Biased Cost Pathfinding

چکیده
In this paper we introduce the Biased Cost Pathfinding (BCP) algorithm as a simple yet effective meta algorithm that can be fused with any other single agent search method in order to make it usable in multi-agent environments. In particular, we focus on pathfinding problems common in real-time strategy games where units can have different functions and mission priorities. We evaluate BCP paired with the A* algorithm in several game-like scenarios. Performance improvement of up to 90% is demonstrated with respect to several metrics.

متن کاملUsing the Hierarchical Pathfinding A* Algorithm in GIS to Find Paths through Rasters with Nonuniform Traversal Cost
A fair amount of research has been carried out on pathfinding problems in the context of transportation networks, whereas pathfinding in off-network space has received far less interest. In geographic information systems (GIS), the latter is usually associated with the cost surface method, which allows optimum paths to be calculated through rasters in which the value of each cell depicts the co...
متن کاملThe influence of activity on axon pathfinding in the optic tectum.
The relative importance of neural activity versus activity-independent cues in shaping the initial wiring of the brain is still largely an open question. While activity is clearly critical for circuit rearrangements after initial connections have been made, whether it also plays a role in initial axon pathfinding remains to be determined. Here, we investigated this question using the guidance o...
متن کاملPlayer-traced Empirical Cost-surfaces for A* Pathfinding
This paper discusses the use of empirical cost-surfaces derived from substantial amounts of player-traced movements in an online vehicular combat game, for the purposes of improving A* pathfinding by AI vehicles. Our goals include the improvement of path travel times, aesthetic improvements, and the reduction of damage sustained while travelling across the map. The results presented include qua...
متن کاملThe Effects of China's Growth in Manufacturing Sector in the U.S. Economy
T his paper investigates the gain of bilateral trade between China and U.S. in manufacturing sectors when both countries play a role in asymmetric (biased) growth of international trade. Our model includes a special case of Biased Growth Theory in international trade. We collected labor productivity, export and import data by using classification of manufacturing industries, for U.S...
